Now of time, Europe was in what is known as the Middle Ages of the Dark Ages. This is the point at which the land was isolated by houses. All the neighboring houses would be in wars with one another. Each master was attempting to acquire land. Pope Urban II, in a discourse of Clermont in France in November 1095, required an extraordinary Christian undertaking to liberate Jerusalem from the Turks, another Muslim force that had as of late started effectively hassling tranquil Christian pioneers heading out to Jerusalem. Urbans discourse spoke to a great many individuals all things considered. This began the primary campaign. The intrigue for officers to battle for Jerusalem was extremely fruitful. Incredible aristocrats, pastorate and laborers from all over Europe started getting ready for the outing. The greater part of the individuals who were going were going for the most significant explanation, a strict explanation. They imagined that God had needed them to. The Crusaders strategic to recapture Jerusalem from the holiest ground of the Christian confidence from the grip of the Muslims. The authority crusading armed forces didn't leader of the long excursion until the center of 1096. There were three principle groups from Northern France, Southern France, and Southern Italy. The crusading armed force showed up in Byzantium over a time of a while from the get-go in 1097. All through their outing to Palestine, they submitted repulsive things like assaulting, killing, and pillaging Jews and Muslims. As they went to Jerusalem, they happened upon numerous wars with other Turkish grounds just as terrains involved by Jews. As they walked east, they were joined by a large number of men and even ladies, extending from trivial knights and their families, to laborers looking for opportunity from their connections to the estate. Hardly any individuals recognized what's in store. They all had one objective, to retake the Holy Land. At the point when the Christians at last arrived at Jerusalem, the crusader armed force settled down to the matter of leading the attack. Driven by ministers reciting and holding their sacrosanct relics before them, the whole armed force walked in moderate serious parade shoeless around Jerusalem. Six days after they walked into Jerusalem, the last ambush started. Over a day of nonstop battling, the Crusaders constrained their way into the city. After just about two months, Jerusalem fell. Crusaders amassed into the city and slaughtered more than 60.000 Muslim and Jewish occupants (Smith, 105). First Crusade was effective and it fortified the authority of the Church and fixed the fearlessness of Western Europeans. Sadly, with triumph came new issues. Numerous Crusaders considered the to be of Jerusalem as the objective; they were all set home. To protect the city for Christians and keep Muslims from taking control again numerous Crusaders remained behind and built up the Christian states simply like the ones in West Europe. They wanted to transplant their military. The Christian Knights who went to live in the Middle East discovered that the individuals there had an alternate lifestyle. They ate various nourishments. They wearing diverse garments. The Christians and Muslims were living respectively in the Middle East as well as in Spain and Sicily as well (Norman, 66). Furthermore, one of the Crusaders most noteworthy accomplishments was the opening of the eastern Mediterranean to European shopping. They set up exchanging states Egypt. Eastern associations opened Europe to a more splendid comprehension of idealistic methods of living and thinking. The greatest contrast among Christians and Muslims is religion. Religion has consistently been a major issue. It generally bigly affected all individuals and there were numerous wars battled about the religion. Likeness that I have seen is that the two sides were warriors of God. .u8932e97999db313de077f08b70d2991d , .u8932e97999db313de077f08b70d2991d .postImageUrl , .u8932e97999db313de077f08b70d2991d .focused content region { min-hei

Iris Is A Goddess Of The Sea And Sky - Free Essay Example

Many people yearn to have a meaning of life, or why the world is the way it is. Why are there thunderstorms, or why are there rainbows in the sky after it rains? For people today, scientific research provides the reasons everyone craves. In ancient Greece, things were a little bit different. Myths were used as a way to teach a lesson, or explain the happenings of day to day life. A common recurrence in Greek mythology is the presence of gods and goddesses. These gods and goddesses typically intervened in the humans lives and many times acted as what we would consider the ?supreme court or disciplinarian. Their most prominent gods and goddesses lived at the top of Mount Olympus, and the Greeks used myths to narrate their lives. Iris is a goddess of the sea and sky. She is the daughter of the oceanid Elektra, a cloud nymph, and sea god Thaumus. She is sibling to Arke, Aello, Celaeno, and Ocypete. Iris is married to Zephyrus, the god of west winds, and delivered her son, Pothos, who was one of Aphrodites erotes. For Greeks who lived on the coast, the rainbow was customarily seen bridging the gap between the sea and the clouds. Thus, Iris is the quintessence of the rainbow. She was thought to provide the clouds with water from the oceans below. She is also believed to articulate the bond between the gods above and humanity on earth. Iris was also a messenger goddess, known primarily for her loyalty to Hera, the goddess of women, family, marriage, and childbirth. Iris is often represented with winged sandals, a staff, and golden wings. Iris is known to be a loyal servant to Hera, alongside her responsibilities as messenger of the gods. In ancient Greek art, Iris is famously depicted in between, or right beside Hera and Zeus, holding a pitcher that is filled with ?nectar. She would use this pitcher to serve nectar to the gods as a way of giving thanks for using her skills. Iris skills were utilized because of her ability to navigate from sky to earth an even the underworld at brisk speeds. Iris is written in The Iliad as a messenger for the gods on Mount Olympus. As a mandate from Zeus, Iris is ordered to carry a jug of water from the Styx River along with her. The water in the jug gives her the ability to incapacitate all of whom deceive themselves, or others. Iris loyalty to the gods is demonstrated in the last book of The Iliad, when Zeus send Iris to inform Priam concerning his decision regarding his sons body (Book 24). She is also shown telling Menelaus when his wife, Helen, has been taken hostage. Also, she single-handedly calls upon the winds to light the fire at Patroclus funeral, per Achilles request. Many Greeks consider Iris to be the goddess of rainbows, communication, and messages. Iris is frequently depicted in paintings and on vases; and while she has no sculptures created in her honor, it is believed that she is basis of minor lines of worship due to her reputation as a messenger god and her ability to fulfill humans prayers.

Organizational Assessment Restructuring and Evidence †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Organizational Assessment Restructuring and Evidence. Answer: Introduction: 3M1 is an innovative organization. It is a new organization and within a span of 100 years, it has become one of the most innovative organization of the world. The company has been highly innovative organization; however, from the last few years, the innovation capability of the organization has declined. The current report analyzes the issues in the innovation capabilities of the organization. One of the major issues that the company is facing is the way in which the company operates. Since, the company focuses on innovations and techniques of innovation; therefore, it is important for the company to improvise regularly with the advent of new technology and the identification of new needs. The company is more than 100 years old. As a result, the technologies used are mostly primitive and based on old methods. However, with the development of new technologies, the competitors are using these innovated and improvised technologies to their advantage. This is bad for the company because clients are getting better and faster results from the competitors (Bansemir, 2013). Since, the newer technologies give results much faster and in efficient manner, so customers are approaching competitors to get faster results. The organization is very large in size; therefore, it is difficult to adopt new technologies and the production techniques. The employees are also accustomed to use the traditional methods for the business operations and the processes of the organization. In order to successfully implement new technologies, it is important to train the employees in new technologies which in itself is a challenging in terms of cost and effort. Issues due to Social Determinism The social determinism theory states that the behavior of an individual or an organization is dependent upon the social interactions and constructs. It means that an individual behave in a certain manner or his personality is developed in accordance to his past behavior. The company is facing difficulties because it is behaving in accordance to social determinism theory. The company is using past tactics for the innovative ideas. However, with the advancement in technologies, the competitors are using different kinds of methods such as brainstorming to derive ideas of innovations. Although the company wants to foster innovation as it is dependent upon the innovation capability of the organization, the company has developed certain systems for innovation and it is difficult to modify it. In case of 3M1, social ideas play significant role in determining the innovations that are brought by the company. As a result the innovations are consistent (Daugherty, 2015). Although the company encourages freedom of thoughts, the employees are afraid to engage in innovative ideas as they are afraid of failure. There is always the probability of failure and chances that the ideas will not work out. Sometimes, innovations is also dependent on accidental success. However, it is important to provide specific environment wherein the employees have free time and creativity to encourage in innovative ideas. Additionally the new organizations are using modern techniques to succeed. As a result, the constantly adopting new technology will be a challenge for the company (Lin, Chen Su, 2017). The company should adopt to modern techniques and start using technologies for innovations. Issues due to Dominating Workers The company has given quite a few privileges to the employees. The company realizes that keeping the employees satisfied with the work is essential in increasing the productivity of the organization. The employers realize that giving flexible and positive environment is necessary to increase the performance of the employees. However, sometimes this strategy does not work in the favor of the company. That is because the employees fail to deliver ideas that are not very feasible. Giving additional time may tamper the efficiency of the organization. The policy of the company allows the workers to work on ideas in their free and leisure time. This has negative impact on the performance of the company because there is a high probability that the workers would fail to deliver. Another policy that the company has adopted is to allow the workers to go for bootlegging (Hodges, 2016). The company has been giving the employees too much liberty that might cause in decreased performance of the co mpany. The company should implement effective administrative system in which the managers would be able to implement innovative strategies to encourage innovation within the organization. The company has presence in more than 20 countries and has a very large and diversified workforce. There is a significant number of female workforce in the organization. The business organization realizes that bringing diversified workforce can bring new ideas within the organization which can encourage innovation in the organization. However, it has been observed in many cases that the females are more creative and concerned for the aesthetic beauty of the customer products. The females have an inclination towards the aesthetic beauty and can design visually appealing products (Brynjolfsson Saunders, 2013). Therefore, they should be a part of the innovation team of the organization. Therefore, the company should adopt policies to train the female staffs with the latest technologies in an organized manner (Morais da Costa, 2011). The company should also start appointing female employees who are well versed with latest technologies and have the zeal to learn them. The company needs to appoint female employees who are better versed with latest technologies because in the field of innovations, technologies play very significant role and appointing females with knowledge in technologies would help to improve the performance of the company. Sometimes, it is also seen that the female employees have different kinds of c omplicacies (Organizational Restructuring, 2016). The company needs to develop policies and rules to improve the working conditions for female workers. Issues associated to End User Innovation The company follows the policy of innovation which is focused on the end user demands. The company introduces ideas keeping in mind the demands of the clients. The company prefers to deliver the ideas based on the demands of the customers. The company tries to understand the demands of the customers and design the innovations accordingly. However, this might turn out to be a problem for the company. Sometimes, the demands of the customers are very awkward and the company fails to deliver because of several reasons (Rossignoli, Gatti Agrifoglio, 2016). One of the common reasons for the failure is the incompetency of the suppliers. This should be prevented because it has adverse effect on the reputation of the company. The company should have ideas about the capabilities of the suppliers and should accept orders from the customers accordingly. The company has a developed a culture of innovation in its working procedures. The company prefers the employees to develop a habit of using innovative ideas in everyday life. Even in the organizational functions the company motivates the employees to use innovative ideas. This culture has been developed by presenting anecdotes and case histories to motivate employees (Chandler, 2016). But with the current generations, it is very difficult to convince employees in such a way. The current generation relies on facts and figures. The company should try to convince the employees by providing facts and figures rather than using previous cases. The culture of innovation should be nurtured by giving present case scenarios and using facts and figures as proofs. The company claims to be based mostly on technologies and use of technologies to bring about innovations. The company focuses on using technologies to bring innovations. However it should be kept in mind that the company is more than 100 years old. As a result the technologies that are being used in the company are quite old and require updating. Communications has also evolved by a great deal through the years. The company has to change its infrastructure accordingly to make it sure that it is at par with the latest technologies (Lewis, 2013). The company needs to introduce technologies so that communications in the organization improves and allows the employees to communicate with each other in a better and improvised manner. Since communication is of great importance for coordinated works, therefore it is important for the company to develop communications so that the employees are able to communicate with each other in a much more efficient manner so that the performance of the c ompany improves. Issues associated to economy and job The company needs to improve its work scenario. The company allows the employees to adopt any kind of measures in order to bring success and innovations. Sometimes these techniques are not entirely correct and might cause issues. The company needs to adopt technologies so that the employees follow proper work ethics such that no ethical issues are caused due to their operational techniques. The company allows the employees to bootleg. This strategy might cause the company to face legal and authoritative issues (Bean, 2011). Additionally the company allows the employees to work under any conditions they find suitable. This can be a major issue for the company because sometimes the workers might give substantial lack while working. In such cases the company needs to follow strict and well developed managerial plans. In order to overcome the adversities faced by the company due to advancement of technologies, the company needs to adopt advanced and well developed technologies so that the company stays at par with eth competitors. In order to do so the company needs to change the infrastructure and introduce new technologies to the company. It is also necessary for the company to bring in experts who are able to implement the new technologies. Experts need to be hired who would efficiently bring the necessary changes in the infrastructure of 3M1. Even the skill sets of the employees needs to be improved in order to make sure that they are able to cope up with the change in technology and infrastructure of the company. Solution related to Social Determinism Theory The company has adopted a policy of allowing the employees to work according to their free will. This might have been steering the company to success. But there are issues and problems associated to it. Even if the company allows the employees to work with their free will, it is important that the company regulates and controls the extent to which the freedom is given to them for instance the company should limit the amount of bootlegging that has been allowed. The company should also monitor the activities carried out by the employees and make sure that they are not given excessive liberty. In order to manage the issues due to dominating workers, the company needs to employ staffs who would monitor the activities of the staffs and make sure that the staffs remain in the limits and the liberty given to them is controlled. The company also needs to make sure that the staffs are guided in the proper manner so that the works are done on time and in an organized manner. In order to make sure that the company does not get involved in any kind of authoritative issues, legal aspects should also be kept in mind while monitoring the employees. The company employs female staffs. But quite often it has been seen that the staffs are not very skilled with the innovative ideas that the company implements. Additionally sometimes the female employees face complicacies while working in the company. While recruiting female employees it is necessary to make sure that the employees are able to comply with the requirements of the company. It is also important to make sure that the female employees are given special liberties within the limits and in case the employees are not trained properly, the company should train the female employees properly. Solving issues associated to End User Innovation The policy of end user innovation has been creating problems for the company. Due to its policy of innovating according to the requirements the company had to face different issues. Sometimes the suppliers failed and the company had to turn down the contract which resulted in the spoiling of reputation. The company needs to consult with the suppliers before confirming the clients to deliver a certain task. 3M1 follows the strategy of motivating the employees by providing instances of stories and anecdotes. However they current generations are influenced more by facts and figures. The company should adopt the policy of influencing the employees by providing facts and figures. The company has been using communication techniques that are quite old. In order to make sure that the employees are able to communicate better, the company needs to adopt advanced communication techniques. It would also help to improve the performance of the company because it would help he company perform better. Finally the company needs to improve its job scenario. In order to make sure that the employees are follow the work ethics and perform properly, the company needs to implement proper administrative techniques to make sure that the activities of the employees are monitored properly. The company has been following the policy of allowing the employees to work according to their will. However in the current scenario such a trend is difficult to maintain. In order to make sure that the employees follow order and maintain a disciplined routine, a manager should be appointed who would act as the guide for the employees. This will help the organization to have a systematic and well organized work procedure. References Bansemir, B. (2013).Organizational Innovation Communities. Movie Review Essays - NervaAntonine Dynasty,

Movie Review Movie Review Gladiator is a movie about ancient Rome that released at May of this year. There are four major characters in this movie, which are Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Richard Harris and Djimon Hounsou. This movie is directed by Ridley Scott. Since it contains violent materials, it is rated R and is restricted to minor audience. The total running time of this movie is 150 minutes. The great Roman general Maximus ( Russell Crowe ) has once again led the legions to victory on the battlefield. The war won, Maximus dreams of home, wanting only to return to his wife and son. However, the dying emperor Marcus Aurelius ( Richard Harris ) has one more duty for the general to assume the mantle of his power. Jealous of Maximusi favor with the emperor, the heir to the throne, Commodus ( Joaquin Phoenix ), orders his execution and that of his family. Barely escaping death, Maximus is forced into slavery and trained as a gladiator in the arena where his fame grows. Now he has came to Rome, intents on avenging the murder of his wife and son by killing the new emperor Commodus. Maximus has learned that the one power stronger than that of the emperor is the will of the people. He also knows that he can only attain his revenge by becoming the greatest hero in the empire. Maximus ( Russell Crowe ) plays an important role in the movie. He shows his bravery and intelligence from the beginning to the end. After the new emperor finds out Maximus real identity, he orders an execution to Maximus. However, Maximus' fellows help him to escape from death by sacrificing themselves. It shows that there is a good relationship between Maximus and other gladiators. Even though they haven't known each other for a long time, they respect Maximus and acknowledge his importance to Rome. Hence, they choose to save Maximus's life even though they would be killed. At the beginning of the movie, Maximus has once again wins the victory of the battle. It shows his great ability and bravery on a battlefield. After he becomes a gladiator, he establishes a good relationship with other gladiators. He teaches them the right way to fight and saves their lives over and over. He sees the difference between soldiers and gladiators. During the fights, he realizes a gladiator doesn't deserve anything but to entertain people and to die. Even though he misses his wife and son, he notices he can't die until he avenges. From these scenes, I can see the cruelty and horror of people. People are very selfish; they don't care about others but themselves. Meanwhile, people rather sacrifice others to satisfy their desires. Based on the historical background and scenarios, this movie is authentic to me. It teaches me a new lesson, which is to aware people that are around me. From now on, I wouldn't judge people on their appearances; I would judge people on their personalities instead. There are certain techniques in the movie that I especially admire. The jumbo-size epic, which called for 2,500 specially designed weapons, 500 gladiator tunics, 30,000 mud bricks, and the burning of an entire English forest. Besides these techniques, it takes place in four different countries before the film is finished. Furthermore, the fights that appear in this movie are very authentic with the special affects. Since I am a fan of ancient history, I think this is a great opportunity for me to visualize the Roman Empire. I can see the structure of Roman government, and the attraction of power within the loyalty. It also analyzes people's personalities in different ways, which include kindness, intelligence, bravery, selfish and horror, etc. This movie is debuted at number one after it is released. It earns a thumbs-up estimated $32.7 million, filling seats at all arenas with an $11, 130 average on 2, 938 screens. Based on these numbers, it is unique compare to other films. Theater

Recognition or Redistribution

Recognition or Redistribution Multiculturalism is characterized by the dilemma whether different cultural groups prefer recognition or redistribution. According to Siapera, the issues of recognition and redistribution are the subject of a common debate when dealing with culturally diverse groups. The theorist considers recognition to be the act of a identifying the particular aspects of a certain cultural group. On the other hand, redistribution covers issues such as giving minority cultural groups their fair share of resources.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Recognition or Redistribution specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The dilemma concerning recognition and redistribution is broad and has been addressed by several cultural theorists. Some of the people who have contributed to this debate include Nancy Fraser who argues that recognition and redistribution are two distinct issues. Another contributor of the issue is Axel Honneth who is of the vi ew that recognition solves redistribution issues. Social democracy factors into this dilemma mainly because of its advocacy of differential treatment of minority cultural groups. The role of the press in this dilemma is highlighted because the press eventually determines how nations handle redistribution and recognition issues. However, it is noted that the media is somehow hypocritical because it often fails to recognize and represent the diverse cultural voices. Siapera’s account of the redistribution and recognition dilemma is easy to understand. In several occasions, the drive to achieve either redistribution or recognition has often resulted in conflicting points of view. In my daily activities, I often witness the varying dimensions of this dilemma. For example, while most minority groups want their uniqueness to be recognized, they often appear to be too sensitive when other cultures focus on this uniqueness. An example of this dilemma in a real life scenario is the re cent controversy surrounding renowned television personality icon Paula Deen. When she was accused of being a racist, she used the argument that her efforts were meant to recognize the African-American culture.

History. Questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

History. Questions - Essay Example During this period, the baby boom stimulated migration to suburbs (Rusty, 2010 p 4). Growth of suburbs led to numerous developments witnessed across the country. As a result of the suburbs, there emerged the need for automobiles. Thus, the government constructed new roads. The population of the United States increased significantly from 1946. The need to provide for the high population made the government come up with policies that enabled people to access basic needs such as healthcare, education, and provisions for social security. The various developments that happened in the United States after the war can be attributed to the baby boom (Rusty, 2010 p 12). Q2. Eisenhower caution and inactivity can be regarded as a wise prudence in the exercise of power. He reacted cautiously towards the beginning of the civil rights movement and sent troops who enforced court orders. His domestic policies used to be conservative, while the foreign policies appeared to be cautious. He is credited for avoiding military involvement in Vietnam and pressuring Britain, France and Israel to resolve the Suez crisis. Eisenhower sought an end the cold war by seeking negotiations and refusing to get involved in the Hungarian revolt. America become more prosperous during the era of Eisenhower, as science and technology advanced significantly. Women had the opportunity to join the workforce and get white collar jobs (Thomas, 2005 p 20). Q3. The Soviet Union tested its first atomic bomb in 1949. This led to public anxiety as the Americans feared the Russia’s superiority. The US government started investigating who had revealed the US atomic secrets to the Russians (Fried, 1991 p 32). As a result, the red hunting came to being; high profile individuals such as Rosenberg faced persecution. Senator Joseph McCarthy recruited communist hunter Roy Cohn, a prosecutor. McCarthy visited his opponents and campaigned against them; he accused his critics as traitors. He formed a red-hunting c orporation known as AWARE Inc, which prosecuted communists. During his tenure, anticommunist agencies questioned teachers; those suspected of communism lost their jobs. Children took loyalty oaths and pledged not to overthrow the government. This way, he forced many Americans to have a skeptical look at secret subversives (Fried, 1991 p 37). Q4. The invasion of Vietnam by France shortly after the Second World War can be termed as the major cause of the Vietnam War. The French occupied the country, leading to an imbalance of the Vietnamese cultural lifestyle. The communists took advantage of the disruption of a peaceful Vietnamese life. Communist countries such as Russia wanted to exercise their political ideologies on small and weak countries that had been destabilized by the French. After World War II, communist countries wanted to gain control over nations that seemed weak and politically unstable. As a result, the Vietnam War came into being (Thomas, 2005 p 22). The cold war and the differences between the capitalist and the communists also resulted to the cold war. America was opposed to communist ideals of the Soviet Union. Russia and China had supplied arms to the government of North Vietnam. The arms included war materials such as machine guns, rifles, artillery, war boats, and ammunitions. America wanted to slow the growth of communism in the Middle East. The United States joined the war following a call to protect South Vietnam from invasion by North

Diet and Exercise Essay Example for Free

Diet and Exercise Essay Obesity has become an epidemic not only in America but also all over the world, and many times people are taking the easy way out with costly surgery over natural weight loss of diet and exercise. A person is considered obese when he or she has a body mass index of at least 30 or has developed a medical condition from being obese and in the United States obesity affects 149.3 million people every year. Losing weight for anyone can be difficult and there are so many different ways to accomplish this like diet, pills, diet plans, shots, surgery, and of course diet and exercise. In this essay I will compare and contrast the risks and benefits of liposuction versus diet and exercise. Liposuction has fast results and is being accepted as a weight lose method instead of a last result. Liposuction is a procedure that vacuums out the fat deposits from areas on the body like the stomach and bottom. I can’t imagine using a vacuum to suck out the fat, when all that is needed some exercise and good nutrition. Liposuction can be very painful, and can cause swelling that could take up to 2 months to subside, depending on how much fat is removed. Who is to say once the swelling does go down if the weight will even stay off? Imagine spending 5,000 on surgery and then within 6 months all of that fat is back or even more because all that was done is having fat removed. In 2009 American spent over 5 hundred million dollars on liposuction surgery. Most are women making up 90% of all liposuctions done in the United States. From 2008 to 2009 men having liposuction increased 18%. Liposuction is not an instant cure to obesity and can come with many complications. The FDA cites studies that indicate the risk of death is as low as 3 deaths per 100,000 operations, but the risk is between 20 to 100 per 100,000 deaths. Deaths in liposuction operations have a higher mortality rate than car accidents. A person’s expectation of results after surgery is not always met. When an excessive amount of fat is removed the skin can look wavy and wrinkly. Skin loss is also a risk especially with smokers and people with diabetes because the skin can die and would have to be removed. Unlike with diet and exercise that none of these problems will exist. Diet and exercise when done as a life style change can completely change how you look, feel, and keep you healthy. Exercise can help control weight, when you do a work out, or run you burn calories. The more intense the workout the more calories are burned. Not much time is needed daily, just a half an hour everyday to get your heart rate up, which will help deter heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Diet is also an important part of making you feel better. Have you ever heard the saying you are what you eat. Replacing your snacks with healthy choices like carrots and celery and eating well rounded balanced meals anywhere from 3 to 5 will make a difference when it comes to how you feel and look. Diet and exercise can also boost your energy; regular workouts can improve muscle strength and boost endurance. When you exercise and eat foods that are healthy you give oxygen and nutrients to tissue and your cardiovascular system works more efficiently and gives you more energy. Diet and exercise helps prevent health conditions and disease and boost good cholesterol. Liposuction is usually not covered by any insurance companies because it is considered a cosmetic procedure and liposuction procedures can cost around $3,000. The average membership to a gym cost somewhere between $20 and $100 per month which is just under a 1,500 per year but this all depends on what type of gym and the services you use. This is 1/3 the cost of liposuction. You don’t need an expensive surgery or even a membership to a gym to be health and have a healthy weight. Walking or running cost you nothing and grocery shopping is already something most Americans do which can be less in cost than you think. Making the choice to change is the first step to living a healthy life. Anyone can do it and it doesn’t have to cost you anymore than what you spend now, making this choice can be the difference between living happy and dying early in life. Making this choice is everyone own decision. Liposuction isn’t the quick fix everyone thinks it is and there are complications to it and if you do have liposuction there is still a need to change your lifestyle. Removing the weight does not guarantee it will stay gone and the need to change your lifestyle after this type of surgery is a must or all of the weight will just be gained back. A natural diet and exercise over time can give you the results you want but can also decrease your risks of major health issues like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.  Making this type of lifestyle change is what make lives better and using a quick fix like surgery can only make the problem worse the way I see it because in the end the life style change will be needed with or without surgery.

Hamlet’s Best Friend, Horatio Essay -- Essays on Shakespeare Hamlet

Hamlet’s Best Friend, Horatio  Ã‚        Ã‚  Ã‚   The Shakespearean drama Hamlet shows much deception and crime. Few friendships in the play survive till the end. But Hamlet and Horatio, best of friends, are not even separated by the hero’s death. This essay will elaborate on this relationship.    A.C. Bradley in Shakespearean Tragedy notes a problem involving Horatio in Shakespeare’s Hamlet:    When Horatio, at the end of the soliloquy, enters and greets Hamlet, it is evident that he and Hamlet have not recently met at Elsinore. Yet Horatio came to Elsinore for the funeral (I.ii. 176). Now even if the funeral took place some three weeks ago, it seems rather strange that Hamlet, however absorbed in grief and however withdrawn from the Court, has not met Horatio. . . (368).    Marchette Chute in â€Å"The Story Told in Hamlet† describes Horatio’s part in the opening scene of the play:    The story opens in the cold and dark of a winter night in Denmark, while the guard is being changed on the battlements of the royal castle of Elsinore. For two nights in succession, just as the bell strikes the hour of one, a ghost has appeared on the battlements, a figure dressed in complete armor and with a face like that of the dead king of Denmark, Hamlet’s father. A young man named Horatio, who is a school friend of Hamlet, has been told of the apparition and cannot believe it, and one of the officers has brought him there in the night so that he can see it for himself. The hour comes, and the ghost walks (35).    Horatio, frightened, futilely confronts the ghost:    What art thou that usurp'st this time of night,   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Together with that fair and warlike form   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In which the majesty of buried Denma... ...Don Nardo. Roman Fever Symbolism

Wharton’s â€Å"Roman Fever† In Edith Wharton’s â€Å"Roman Fever,† the setting takes place in the romantic city of Rome, on the balcony of a casual Roman restaurant. Two wealthy American widows, Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade, are sitting together carrying on a conversation from afternoon to evening. From the restaurant, the two women are overseeing the ruins of the ancient city of Rome. Grace Ansley and Alida Slade’s conversation from afternoon to evening, the colosseum, the ancient ruins, and Grace Ansley’s knitting all have important meanings. The afternoon light is the last hours of friendship and kindness that the two ladies display for each other. When the two ladies finally start getting deeper into their conversation they begin to build an envious relationship that takes place at dawn. The evening darkness is Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley’s entry to the dark secrets and rivalry that they have for each other. The colosseum is symbolic for the battlefield where Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade fought for the man that they loved. Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley continue the gladiatorial tradition. In this battle, Mrs. Slade and Mrs. Ansley use their life of lies, daughters and husbands as weapons to criticize on each other. The ruins of the romantic city of Rome are also significant. The ruins is like Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade’s decaying relationship. In the end their friendship collapses. In â€Å"Roman Fever†, Grace Ansley is knitting with crimson silk throughout most of the story. There are many different ways in which knitting is used. Mrs. Ansley knitting is a way for her to cover up her agitation and the guilt of her past. The knitting represents the complicated, twisted relationship and life that these women have. The crimson silk is symbolic for passion and love.

Alcohol Consumption Of Ethanol Effects On Human Beings

Alcohol is one of the most consumed substances in the entire world. â€Å"In 2013, 86.8 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they drank alcohol at some point in their life time† (NIAAA, n.d.). Alcohol is the result of fermented ethanol. Ethanol is a, â€Å"chemically and aromatic compound containing a hydroxyl group† (Foster Marriott, 2006). The raw consumption of ethanol can have devastating effects on human beings, which is why it has to go through the process of fermentation. The fermentation process produces alcohol by breaking down glucose molecules, without the presence of oxygen, this generates ethanol, carbon dioxide and energy (Foster Marriott, 2006). The purpose of this research paper is to bring knowledge about the effects of alcohol, what risks increase alcohol consumption and how alcohol presents risks, alcohol use disorders and general policies relating to alcohol. The effects of alcohol depend on a variety of different factors. Studies have been conducted to determine the amount of alcohol necessary to reach intoxication, however, individual differences complicate this research. There are three classifications used to determine the effect of alcohol. These include: moderate drinking, heavy drinking and binge drinking. When a person drinks without enhancing to intoxication, it is classified as-drinking in moderation. A moderate level of alcohol intake would be, one drink per day for women and two drinks a day for men (â€Å"Alcohol Use,† 2015).
